We’ve only just got into the kick of Strictly Come Dancing yet ITV is trying hype up Dancing On Ice 2020 announcing that former TV entertainer, Michael Barrymore and Love Island’s Maura Higgins have signed up.
I’m sorry but the sparkle of DOI faded for me way back when it took a TV hiatus back in 2011. I browsed through the last series, mainly for the Gemma Collins/Jason Gardiner fallout but it’ll take a lot more than Maura and Barrymore to pull me in.
DOI starts in the New Year, just after TV fans have had their full dose of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. They’re both long paced shows and with Strictly hitting the top spot for entertainment, DOI is a bit of a long-assed drag to be honest. No offence to the professional skaters, ice-skating is thrilling at a high paced expert level but watching celebs learn the skill ain’t really doing it for me unless they’re falling over and I’m done with that blasted Bolero being pimped out every series as the showcase finale. The final nail in the coffin is the fact that “nasty” judge, Jason, will no longer be participating. That’s like Strictly without Craig Revel Horwood or X-Factor without Simon Cowell. DEAD!
Hopefully Michael will be able to keep his shit together better than he did in CBB 2006
