This is just a quick, but poignant shout to the late Heavy D (Dwight Arrington Myers) on what would’ve been his 45th birthday. As well rising to fame as a rapper with Heavy D and Boyz, Myers was also known for heading Uptown Records which steered the then newcomer, Mary J Blige‘s career and other R&B acts in the 90s. Heavy also turned his talents to acting appearing in both film and television.
Heavy was the original “overweight lover” before the likes of the Notorious B.I.G. and Fat Joe brought their flava to the ladies.
Heavy died last year November aged just 45. He leaves behind one child, a daughter and music that will live on forever.
Happy Birthday in Music Heaven, Heavy…We’ll never forget you.
