NB: THIS IS WRITTEN IN UK TIME WHICH IS AHEAD OF THE US TIME.
On May 16th 1966, Gary Indiana, Janet Damita Jo Jackson was born into the infamous Jackson family. The youngest of ten children (one child died at birth), Janet was born into super stardom and was performing alongside her siblings as a toddler.
After her ‘secret’ marriage to singer James Debarge (1984) and the release of her third studio album Control (1986) Janet was often considered to be the rebel of the religious Jackson clan. However, her ‘rebelling’ paid off. She has recorded 10 studio albums, is listed in the top twenty as one the most successful female artists and has sold over a staggering 50 million records.
Her style of performance and dance has innovated generations of female artists after her. As well as a recording artist, Janet is also an actress (Poetic Justice, The Nutty Professor) author, film producer and fashion designer.
Here’s wishing Janet a very happy 46th ‘Earthday‘ and many more to come.
